Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County pairs carefully screened adult mentors with children aged 6-14. Our matches spend a few hours together every week or two, doing whatever activities they both enjoy.
It would be impossible to list all the activities enjoyed by our community Bigs and Littles; the list would go “to infinity and beyond.” So be aware that the following list is but a fraction of the actual activities: sports are often high on the list of fun activities for matches to share; tennis, bowling, swimming, hiking, biking, fishing or going to the YMCA. Food is also a great excuse for matches to get together, whether it is to cook a weekly dinner together or to find the “best” creamy in Franklin County.
Each Big and Little match has their own Case Manager to turn to for support or guidance. The policies of BBBSFC are designed to provide an enjoyable and safe mentoring relationship for each child that we serve. No volunteer is matched with a child without the review and approval of the child’s parent or guardian.
The activities are fun, but the most important part of any match is the time spent together. Each Little Brother or Sister knows that someone else cares about them, enjoys spending time with them and lets them safely enjoy their childhood.
